Choose the best direction
A combined trip does not need to return to the same airport. Starting in Kigali and ending in Entebbe, or the reverse, can remove unnecessary backtracking and make room for another safari experience.
Fix permit dates before fine-tuning lodges
Gorilla and chimpanzee permits are date-specific. Once the core trekking dates are clear, accommodation and transfers can be arranged around the correct sector and border route.
Use both countries for what they do best
Rwanda’s compact distances work well around Kigali, Akagera and Volcanoes. Uganda offers broad wildlife circuits, Kibale chimpanzees and several ways to connect Bwindi with savannah parks.
