Start with the non-negotiables
Write down the two or three experiences you would regret missing. Then decide your available days, approximate budget level and preferred arrival airport. From there, permit dates and driving logic can shape the most efficient route.
Do not overload each day
East Africa looks compact on a map but road travel can take time. A better safari leaves enough space for meals, scenic stops, wildlife delays and rest after demanding treks.
Private or group?
A private safari offers the greatest flexibility for photography stops, birding, family needs and route changes. Group trips can reduce costs but usually require a fixed schedule and shared priorities.
