What determines safari cost?
The largest variables are accommodation level, number of travellers sharing the vehicle, number of safari days, gorilla and chimpanzee permits, domestic flights, park activities and whether the route crosses borders. Private safaris can become better value per person as more travellers share the vehicle and guide costs.

Permit prices and availability are controlled by the relevant wildlife authorities and can change. Because popular trekking dates sell out, it is wise to confirm the current permit position before finalizing non-refundable flights or lodge arrangements.
