Start with the whole trip, not only the trek
Uganda and Rwanda both offer mountain gorilla trekking, but the surrounding safari experience is different. Rwanda can be convenient for travellers starting in Kigali and working with a shorter schedule. Uganda often suits travellers who want to connect gorillas with chimpanzees, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Lake Bunyonyi or a longer wildlife circuit.
Compare route and time
Ask how many nights you have, where your international flight arrives, which other experiences matter and how much road time feels comfortable. Permit price is important, but the complete safari cost also includes vehicle days, accommodation, park fees and the shape of the route.
