Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 – Transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary & Evening Nature Walk

Our 6-Day Murchison Falls Chimpanzee and Rhino Safari starts with a transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and settle in before enjoying an evening nature walk around the sanctuary. Discover the natural surroundings and experience the peaceful atmosphere of this important wildlife conservation area.

Overnight: Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.

Day 2 – Rhino Tracking, Top of the Falls & Evening Game Drive

Begin the morning with guided rhino tracking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, observing southern white rhinos on foot and learning about Uganda’s rhino conservation efforts.

After the activity, transfer to Murchison Falls National Park and visit the Top of the Falls, where the Victoria Nile squeezes through a narrow gorge. Later, enjoy an evening game drive as you make your way towards your lodge, watching for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes and other wildlife.

Overnight: Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 3 – Murchison Falls Game Drives & Nile Boat Safari

Start the morning with a game drive in Murchison Falls National Park, searching for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, antelopes and other wildlife across the savannah.

At around 11:00 AM, enjoy a boat safari along the Victoria Nile, looking out for hippos, crocodiles and waterbirds along the riverbanks while taking in the scenery around Murchison Falls.

After the boat ride, return for lunch before heading out for an afternoon game drive, continuing your wildlife exploration into the evening.

Overnight: Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 4 – Scenic Transfer to Kibale & Evening Crater Exploration

Enjoy a relaxed morning and breakfast before departing Murchison Falls National Park for the journey south to the Kibale Forest region. The drive takes approximately six hours, with a lunch stop along the way to break up the journey.

Arrive in the Kibale region in the afternoon and enjoy crater lakes exploration, taking in the beautiful landscapes and scenic views of the surrounding countryside before checking in at your lodge.

Overnight: Kibale Forest region.

Day 5 – Chimpanzee Tracking & Bigodi Community and Swamp Walk

Enjoy chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest National Park, accompanied by experienced ranger guides as you search for a habituated chimpanzee community and observe their behaviour in the forest.

Depending on chimpanzee permit availability, tracking may take place in the morning or afternoon. You can also enjoy a guided Bigodi community and swamp walk during the other part of the day, offering opportunities to discover local culture, wetland wildlife and birdlife. The order of activities will be arranged around your chimpanzee tracking time.

Day 6 – Return to Entebbe via Uganda’s Scenic Tea Plantations

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your lodge before beginning the journey back to Entebbe or Kampala. Travel through Uganda’s beautiful countryside, passing scenic tea plantations that add colour to the landscape and provide lovely views along the way. Enjoy a lunch stop en route before continuing to Kampala/Entebbe, with arrival planned around your onward flight schedule.
